ID Card

Positive identification and verification system

Introduction

Our company is specialize in Systems Integration, Software Development for computerize imaging applications based in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

The ID system and image verification developed during 1995 to 1997 by Dr. Amir Mazinani when he was a partner, VP and technical responsible for Power Vision. In 1997 Dr. Mazinani established the NuVision Canada; serving Canadian industry in the field of video transmission and compression, IP and system integration and ID consulting. Dr. Mazinani's filed of experience is Two dimensional digital image processing and two dimensional filter design. He holds a patent in digital imaging, which is one of the key elements of ID card system design.

Clients

One of the ID card clients is York University in Toronto. For the first phase of the project we made 80’000 students ID cards. In the next phase of the project we prepared several units for the Registration office of York University to continue production of ID cards for the new students.

A Positive Identification system along with ID card designed for Eduardo Airport in Colombia to verify and control access to the airport.

System solution

We are offering the turnkey system solution for:

High Security Card/Identification System used for image database, image verification, security card production, access control, tracking the employee and accounting.

This system can be used stand-alone locally with a data database containing all the features and personal data such as picture, signature, fingerprint and other information.

Also, several units can be connected to a LAN network to serve a big organization or via secure Internet connection. Database can be centralized or distributed to server as a positive identification system.

Card's Security  Features

 1.      Floating Image

Exclusive to the Security Card System is the ability to cut out the image from the background. Blend the edges and display it anywhere on the badge.  This process is completely software driven and based on a chroma-key process.  What this allows us to accomplish is the storage of the bare image and not any of its background.

2.      Ghosting

The system provides for an exclusive option called ghosting.  This feature places a translucent image of the cardholder at a user-defined location on the card.  Text can be overlaid this ghosted image to significantly enhance security and significantly reduce the possibility of creating counterfeit cards.

3.      Card material

The Security Card can be any size all-plastic card. In this case there is neither paper nor photographic film required for processing.  Digitized images are printed directly to plastic.  The process creates an all-plastic card that is more durable than traditional cards. Its life span is five years or more under normal use.

The paper version of the ID card with or without sticker can be also use as a temporary ID card for visitors.

4.      Fingerprint

Fingerprint can be added for counter proofing of the ID card. This is one of the most useful biometric featuer that can be us by police.

5.      Bar codes

Each card can have a printed barcode for identification. Barcode reader can trigger the system to bring the picture of a person on to the monitor for positive identification and verification.

6.      Magnetic strip

Magnetic strip can be use to record a person data on the card. Then it can be used to trigger the system to bring the picture of a person on to the monitor for verification.

7.      Smart chip

Smart chip can be added to the card for better security. Then it can be used to trigger the system or to save signature, fingerprint or a small picture of person for verification purposes.

8.      Signature

Signature can be captured at the time of picture taking and print overlay of the card background for better identification.

9.      Background

Background of the card can be design using any popular graphic software. It can contain logo, printed counterproof lines or pattern.

10.  Holographic

Holographic can be added on the ID card to make it counterproof and difficult to copy.

11.  RF card

A contactless smart cards uses an antenna to communicate with the reader. The power of RF card comes from an RF field generated by the card reader. The RF field also transfers information to and from the card and card reader.

A multipurpose combination of smart cards and RF card are a Hybrid mix of the contact and contactless card.

Administration and Security

Multi-user security accounts with system access privileges. Operators must enter a user ID and password. Each user ID has an associated security level, which defines the application state.  System has full security event, database maintenance, and application error logging. "Point and click" configuration of card readers, card encoders, printers, and image capture devices.

Printer

The system supports all popular brands of PVC, video and document printers.  Printer option is available for printing on both sides of the card.  Prints cards individually or in batches. Batch print queues can be sorted (i.e., by last name, department, etc.).  Encodes magnetic stripes or smart chips while printing (machine dependent).  Encodes magnetic stripes on external encoders.

Flexibility

The system includes simple functions key or pointers, which makes it extremely flexible for the user.  Pointers allow for a variety of graphics boards to be used.  Given a choice of graphics or text mode together with a wide variety of upgradeable hardware. The system applications accommodate all levels of acceptable resolution.

Extremely User Friendly

All the systems are so simple to operate that anyone can quickly learn to operate them.  The graphical user friendly and single key operation or pull down menus enables users with no technical or computer experience to learn system's operations in no time.  Following simple instructions makes learning so easy that user training is normally accomplished in one day.

Database

The system has a default database with the ability to connect to all the standard database.

Supports ODBC, with multi-user database access across a network.  Allows customer to add an unlimited number of data base files.   The system is fast; simple indexing software allows recall of an image or combination of fields in the database. Supports short table and field names.

All database fields can be added to, or removed from workspace. Data entry fields can be simple text boxes or dropdown pick lists. Dropdown lists can be created by customizing the database tables, or added directly. Batch database updates and card validations.  Unlimited numbers of different cards can be created for each cardholder record.

Monitor Calibration/Display Adapters

Color variance between monitors, display adapters and digital printer will be detected for the calibration option.  The software will compensate for both calibration inaccuracy and adapter variance. We can reduce this discrepancy in color to less than 0.1% between systems regardless of the distance they are communicating.

Enhancement and Features

Supporting of Fingerprint image capture (includes new Fingerprint display field).  All images can be saved or batch exported to any industry standard Windows or Macintosh bitmap file format. Image Batch Export includes automatic filename generation based on random or user-defined methods. All or a portion of the database images can be exported.

Image Batch Export automatically generates an industry standard Comma Separated Value (.CSV) file, which can be used to import saved images into any other database. Image ghosting and background pixel removal capabilities. The system has image capture supports VFW (Video for Windows) and TWAIN device drivers. Photographs, signatures and fingerprints can be captured from any industry standard device, or from previously saved files.  Images are automatically saved to database, and can optionally be saved to disk using any industry standard bitmap file format.

Database images can also be exported in batches.  Multiple image compression methods (Windows

Bitmap, JPEG compressed, monochrome compressed and "lossless" LZW compressed).  Color correction (controls Brightness, Contrast, Gamma and RGB scaling matrixes).

Bar codes can be horizontally justified; with standard or custom fill colors. Supports PDF417 two-dimensional bar codes.

It is complete, context sensitive, online reference and procedural Help systems, with Troubleshooting and Tips and Tricks sections. It has complete procedural help, plus a comprehensive System Administrator's Guide, Glossary, and Index are available in a hardcopy User Manual.

Multiple Locations Image Distribution

The distribution circuitry rapidly transfers stored images to remote monitors.  Security personnel can simultaneously display different images and verify them. Keypad, barcode reader or magnetic card reader can trigger the recall automatically.  Security personnel can compare the recalled image with a live Closed Circuit TV image.

Platform

The software can be run on Microsoft Windows 9x, Windows xp, Windows 2000 and Windows NT. It will runs on any standard PC network.
